Dave Meros / Spock's Beard

Dave has been the bass player for the progressive rock group Spock’s Beard and has been using Digitech products to get his distinctive sound since the mid ‘90s.

Other credits include recording and/or playing live with Eric Burdon and The Animals, Gary Myrick, Bobby Kimball, Simon Phillips, Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Glenn Hughes, Iron Butterfly, Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere and the Raiders), and Big Big Train.

"When I joined Spock’s Beard I needed to develop a sound with a lot of crunch while still being defined and without getting fuzzy. (But occasionally I DO want it to be really fuzzed out) I also needed some other effects that might be considered unusual for a bass player like Wah and Tremolo for example so that’s why I gravitated towards using a guitar processor for bass. The RP-21d did the job far better than anything else that I tried out, and believe me, I tried a lot of stuff. It’s also been completely trouble free all this time, despite what the airlines try to do to it."
